An artist building hidden in Paris
Real meeting point for artists, La Ruche was founded in 1900. About 50 artists work there regularly.
In this unusual building, we can find exhibitions, readings, meetings and a collective room.
The name is a reference to the artists’ activity, reminding the bees’ activity. The architectural elements of the building come from the Universal Exhibition and the roof and facades are historical monuments.
Here is a small list of the historical residents: Fernand Léger, Chaïm Soutine, Zadkine, Archipenko, Marc Chagall, Michel Kikoïne, Jacques Chapiro, Jacques Lipchitz, Henri Laurens, Blaise Cendrars or even Alfred Boucher.
La Ruche is worth the travel!
